Dart Mining: Is this the first of many east coast Australian high grade lithium discoveries?

Dart Mining Managing Director James Chirnside on 3AW, 2GB, 4BC & 6PR Bulls N Bears Report

Listen to ASX-listed Dart Mining Managing Director James Chirnside talk to Matt Birney on the Bulls N’ Bears Report about Dart’s hunch that high grade lithium might be lurking in Victoria – a hunch that just became real.

Dart Mining has its foot on exploration projects that span some 80 plus geological targets across 6 regions that mostly straddle the NSW/Victorian border within the famed Lachlan Fold Belt that has thrown up some biblical scale mineral projects over the years. More recently however Dart appears to have proven its hunch that high grade lithium exists in eastern Victoria with some very encouraging drill hits at its Dorchap Range project.

RADIO INTERVIEW - TRANSCRIPT

Matt Birney - Welcome to Bulls N' Bears brought to you today by mineral explorer Dart Mining

Matt Birney - ASX code: DTM

Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney and I'm joined now by the Managing Director of Dart Mining, James Chirnside.

Matt Birney - Hi James

James Chirnside - G'day Matt, good morning

Matt Birney - Okay, so Dart Mining has its foot on exploration projects that span some 80-plus geological targets across 6 regions that mostly straddle the NSW/Victorian border within the famed Lachlan Fold Belt that has thrown up some biblical-scale mineral projects over the years.

Matt Birney - More recently however Dart appears to have proven its hunch that high-grade lithium exists in eastern Victoria with some very encouraging drill hits at its Dorchap Range project.

Matt Birney - Okay, James you just received assays from the fourth and fifth reported holes at Dorchap Range, what were the best lithium numbers there from the fourth reported hole?

James Chirnside - Matt, we had 10 meters at 1.08 lithium oxide from 313 meters including seven meters of 1.38 from 315 and then the second hole reported there, two meters at 1.07 from 302 meters including a meter at 1.38 from 303 meters.

Matt Birney - Now looking at the results from the first three holes reported back in June, I'm guessing they were probably a bit of a bittersweet for you because on the one hand they proved your model of a lithium discovery but at 0.1 and 0.2 per cent lithium oxide, they were very low grade. You have a theory as to why the grade have jumped so massively between that set of pegmatites and this one?

James Chirnside - The idea of the earlier hole was to establish the outer reaches of the system and so what we theoretically thought were the, round the edges, that's where we were drilling to try and establish the boundaries so with the latest results are from a dyke called Boone’s and it, from the outside or at outcrop, is highly crystallized big crystals looked really good.

Matt Birney - Now I must say I don't ever recall seeing any one per cent plus lithium drill hits in New South Wales or Victoria, do you think these are the first? Are you aware of any others?

James Chirnside - I'm not aware of any other drill intercepts, there's been a few rock chips that have gone high but high grade but nothing from drill intercepts, I mean ours is, as far as I'm aware the only significant or the only proper extensive lithium project in Victoria and New South Wales.

Matt Birney - How many pegmatites have you got outcropping at this project?

James Chirnside - Well over a thousand is the answer to that. We did a LiDAR survey last year which was enormously helpful because it can see through the canopy and very, very accurate. We uncovered 400 from there and we'd previously counted about a thousand pegmatites from aerial surveys.

Matt Birney - I know you've got SQM farming into this project for about 12 million bucks, the biggest lithium producer in the world so it must look interesting to them.

Matt Birney - James Chirnside from Dart Mining.

Matt Birney - Thanks for joining me on Bulls N' Bears and remember we're only here to give you information, not advice, which you should of course seek independently.

Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney and this is Bulls N' Bears
