Matt Birney - Welcome to Bulls N' Bears, brought to you today by Great Southern Mining
Matt Birney - ASX code: GSN
Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney, and I'm joined now by the Managing Director of Great Southern Mining, Matt Keane.
Matt Birney - Hi, Matt.
Matt Keane - G'day, Matt.
Matt Birney - Okay, well, let's talk about your Edinburgh Park copper-gold play in Queensland. Mega miner Gold Fields is farming into it and has just started to poke the very first holes into some recently discovered elephant sized geophysical anomalies. Where is this project and what's the region around it like generally for geological discoveries?
Matt Keane - Okay, it's located just inland from the towns of Townsville or City of Townsville and Bowen. And in terms of prospectivity, a lot of monster gold deposits are found in this region such as the Ravenswood deposit, 10 million ounces gold at host, Pajingo 2 to 3 million ounces. And in fact, our project circles an area called Mount Carlton where that mine produced about 1.7 to 2 million ounces of gold and silver. So very prospective.
Matt Birney - Yeah, now I know you've got some big geophysical targets up there that you've found. Let's talk about your Leichhardt Creek target first. I know you're drilling there right now for the first time. What are you drilling into and why?
Matt Keane - We're drilling a nice long thousand meter hole to start with and we're drilling into an IP anomaly. That's a geophysics anomaly indicative of where you find sulphides. And of course, it's the sulphides that bring along with them the gold, silver, copper, the minerals we're chasing, hoping to find the big one.
Matt Birney - Now to the south east of that you've got your Mt Dillon target where Gold Fields has unearthed another monster looking IP anomaly that will feel the drill bit next, in layman's terms, why does that scream copper-gold to you?
Matt Keane - Ah look similarly this is another IP anomaly, big chargeable anomalies may have a lot of sulphides in it but interesting sits under a lithocap. So these lithocaps, below them is where some of the biggest deposits globally are found. I'm talking about massive deposits in Colombia such as Quebradona and big deposits in the Philippines as well as elsewhere around the world. That's where the majors are looking at the moment underneath these lithocaps.
Matt Birney - What's your deal with Gold Fields? Who pays for what and who gets what?
Matt Keane - Gold Fields can spend 15 million and they'll earn 75% of the project. And if we end up with 25% of a monster, I tell you, we're going to be more than happy.
Matt Birney - You just sold a little bit of land in your West Australian Duketon Gold project. You've banked 4 million bucks very quickly. What will you do with that money?
Matt Keane - Look, we retain 98% of our ground and that 4 million is definitely going to go back in the ground to try and find a big deposit on some great areas where we've got up to 70 grams per tonne in recent drill intercepts. So, very prospective.
Matt Birney - Matt Keane from Great Southern Mining.
Matt Birney - Thanks for joining me on Bulls N' Bears and remember we're only here to give you information, not advice, which you should of course seek independently.
Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney and this is Bulls N' Bears.
