ClearVue Technologies’ new managing director Doug Hunt and associate show off the company’s latest Helios Solar offering which looks certain to be a game-changer in the application of solar power generating panels to metal roofing that can be walked on.

ClearVue Technologies (ASX: CPV) has launched its potentially game-changing “ClearVue-Helios”, an innovative rooftop solar solution tailored for metal roof applications, marking a significant step in its mission to transform buildings into renewable energy powerhouses.

Helios integrates seamlessly with ClearVue’s existing solar facade products, further enhancing its portfolio of energy-generating building solutions.

The product, developed under a global distribution agreement with Helios Power Co. Ltd., will debut at the forthcoming Prefabulous installation, showcasing its real-world potential.

The ClearVue solar technology is being incorporated into a Prefabulous modular home prototype called “Fab Zero” which is being constructed in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales and will be located at the Ingenia BIG4 Tourist Park.

The panels have been delivered to the client and are awaiting final placement at the modular home site. The project is part of ClearVue’s move into the net-zero modular housing market.

ClearVue-Helios features metal-backed, tempered solar glass panels available in lightweight aluminium weighing in at a featherweight 5kg per square metre or as a robust, trafficable steel, catering to diverse construction needs.

Delivering over 200 watts of electrical energy per square metre, the panels form a sealed secondary roof surface with an air gap that reduces building temperatures by up to 30 per cent which can significantly reduce internal cooling costs.

The design also extends roof lifespan by protecting underlying structures from environmental wear, while its low-maintenance panels can be cleaned with water or rooftop sprinklers, making them ideal for dusty or salty environments.

The proprietary mounting system ensures a leak-proof seal, enhancing durability and energy efficiency.

The ClearVue-Helios line extends the breadth of solar solutions ClearVue provides for building envelopes. This exclusive, integrated rooftop metal-backed, tempered solar panel and framing system delivers numerous benefits including excellent performance, lightweight installation and a fully sealed environment that is low maintenance.
ClearVue Technologies CEO Douglas (Doug) Hunt

With its patented glass technologies, ClearVue integrates solar energy generation into building facades and rooftops while preserving transparency and aesthetics.

Originally developed with Edith Cowan University’s Electron Science Research Institute, the company’s advancements in low-emissivity coatings have evolved into solar-generating glass, cladding, spandrels, balustrades, and skylights.

These solutions significantly offset operational energy needs of built structures, aligning with global net-zero building objectives.

In related news, ClearVue announced a leadership transition yesterday.

Founder Victor Rosenberg, a glass technology pioneer since the 1990s, has stepped down as non-executive chairman to become a non-executive director, with plans to retire at the November 2025 Annual General Meeting.

Rosenberg’s vision drove ClearVue’s inception, transforming early innovations into a globally recognized solar technology platform.

Theresa Smits has been appointed interim non-executive chairperson, while CEO Douglas Hunt joins the board as managing director, as the company scales new heights.

ClearVue-Helios positions the company at the forefront of sustainable building solutions, with its versatile, high-performance solar technology set to redefine energy efficiency in construction and drive ClearVue towards a global leadership position in net-zero building innovation.

At a time when solar is muscling its way into energy grids around the world, ClearVue appears to be well ahead of the pack with a range of products designed to not only soak up energy from the sun but also integrate seamlessly with building manufacturing.
