Dynamic Metals has launched a one-week drilling blitz in its search for nickel across its Widgiemooltha project in Western Australia’s Goldfields region, with a 12-hole reverse-circulation (RC) campaign.

The program will focus on the project’s recently-acquired Democrat tenement that sits within 20km of several Kambalda nickel operations, including the Lanfranchi, Cameron, Stockwell, Jan, Foster and Miitel deposits.

Dynamic was officially granted exploration rights to Democrat in June and has already highlighted three priority nickel targets at its D1, D3 and D5 prospects. The company says its tenement covers a geologically-complex area dominated by a major regional structural fault running north-east to south-west, with about 7km of basal contact to explore.

Its latest campaign will see six holes sunk at the D3 target, with another six set to probe its D5 prospect.

Management says the D5 prospect presents as a promising target as historic work established the potential for nickel with a 20m hit at 0.54 per cent. Mincor Resources’ drilling at its nearby Patriot prospect, along strike and north of D5, showed results of 2m going 0.67 per cent nickel from 107m, in addition to 13m grading 0.64 per cent from 19m and 16m at 0.4 per cent from 49m.

The remaining six holes will be sunk at D3, which sits in the centre of the tenement where the campaign will test 400m of interpreted basal contact to a depth of up to 150m. The company says anomalous nickel results from historic Western Mining Corporation drilling, combined with magnetic interpretations and soil geochemistry, have highlighted the six targets.

Once again the drill rigs are turning out on Dynamic ground. We’ve drilled 10,000m since listing in January where we’ve been systematically testing our targets, refining our geological models and seeing results in the process. Dynamic Metals managing director Karen Wellman

In May, geochemical analysis on 1m split samples from drilling at Dynamic’s Dordie Far West prospect at Widgiemooltha revealed a solid bump in nickel grades, including a 5m hit at an impressive 2.84 per cent from 30m.

The significant 5m section is within a 16m intercept going 1.96 per cent nickel from just 27m, with further analysis also showing a 15m segment at 1.56 per cent from 48m, including 3m at 2.06 per cent from 50m and 1m grading 2.71 per cent from 50m. The same hole also recorded a shallower 6m hit at 1.6 per cent nickel from 29m, including a 1m section going 2.07 per cent from 29m.

Dynamic previously announced the results of its five-hole RC program that tested Dordie Far West near Kambalda using analysis of 3m samples. That data showed subsequent results of 15m at 1.86 per cent nickel from 27m, 15m grading 1.11 per cent from 30m and then another 12m hit further down the same hole going 1.58 per cent from 48m.

The company has conducted additional geochemical analysis on samples collected at its Lake Percy project near Norseman, where recent drilling returned some impressive results including a 16m hit grading 1.11 per cent nickel and 645 parts per million copper from only 32m.

Management also submitted the fresh rock from the bottom of a single hole, which returned 2m grading 160 parts per billion platinum and 43ppb palladium, in addition to 0.35 per cent nickel, 236ppm copper and 38 per cent magnesium oxide.

Dynamic says a key component in the mineralogy of massive nickel sulphide deposits is the presence of platinum group elements, including palladium and platinum, suggesting the presence of a fertile nickel system.

And it is clear the company has an ethic that will not see it just sitting around and waiting to find out.
