Forrestania Resources (ASX: FRS) has aggressively spun the drill bit at its Mt Palmer gold project in Western Australia, unlocking a treasure trove of high-grade mineralisation and successfully confirming significant gold lurking just under the topsoil.
Forrestania’s campaign at Mt Palmer, 15 kilometres east of Marvel Loch in the gold-rich Shire of Yilgarn, saw the company sink 38 reverse circulation drill holes for a total of 2564 metres, targeting its prospective K1 and K2 prospects.
Top-tier assay results from the shallow blitz were spearheaded by one hole, which pierced 6 metres at a glittering 7.60 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from just 3m depth. The intercept featured a premium, ultra-high-grade core of 1m grading a hefty 19.67g/t gold from 5m, alongside a secondary slice in the same hole of 6m running at 2.37g/t gold from 11m.
The gold-rich system continued to deliver across the remaining targets, with another hole returning 7m at 2.62g/t gold from 26m depth. Proving the mineralisation also started right at surface in some places, a further hole generated a wide 18-metre hit grading 1.91g/t gold from ground level. Not to be outdone, another hole bit into 15m at 1.82 g/t gold from 8m.
Adding further fuel to the fire, Forrestania highlighted the historical deeper plumbing lurking below at its nearby K5 prospect, formerly the West Lode, which features historical bonanza hits of 2m at 18.08g/t gold from 23m and 2m at 7.78g/t gold from 16m.
Recent drilling at Mt Palmer within the K1 and K2 prospects has delivered significant and encouraging drill results. These encouraging results from Mt Palmer are improving our understanding, with a project in close proximity to the Lake Johnston processing facility. Forrestania Resources Chairman David Geraghty
Away from the immediate Mt Palmer area, Forrestania is steadily compiling a massive multi-hub exploration pipeline across Western Australia’s premier mining districts.
The company holds a suite of highly prospective regional ground, including its namesake Forrestania project, which is dead-centre of a world-class mineral province directly adjacent to the historic one-million-ounce Bounty gold mine.
Further to the north, the explorer retains premium exposure within the fiercely contested mineralised corridors surrounding the iconic Coolgardie and Menzies hubs in the Eastern Goldfields.
After a recent upgrade at its Johnson Range deposit and the finalisation of the Hyden project acquisition, Forrestania’s overall mineral resource estimate now stands at a hefty and growing 23.08 million tonnes running at 1.22g/t gold for a standout 907,000 ounces of the yellow metal.
With the shallow, high-grade data appearing to vindicate its geological model at Mt Palmer, the company has slated plans to deploy systematic follow-up infill drilling campaigns shortly to map lateral extensions.
The aim is to build a substantial JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate that will feed its nearby, soon-to-be-refurbished 3.2 million tonne per annum Lake Johnston processing plant.
With spectacular gold grades coming out of the ground at shallow depths and a processing facility sitting right in its backyard, Forrestania is building a compelling case for market watchers.
If the company can keep landing these near-surface hits at Mt Palmer, its resource size looks poised to grow as quickly as the drill rods can spin.
