Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX: KAL) is shifting into high gear in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, officially kicking off the most ambitious exploration blitz to date, starting with its Pinjin gold project.
The company says a reverse circulation (RC) drill rig has now mobilised from Kalgoorlie, marking the start of a multi-phase campaign designed to grow its existing resources and probe untouched ground along one of the state’s most fertile gold corridors.
KalGold’s major drilling campaign has kicked off with an initial 41-hole RC drilling program, totalling 6850 metres, featuring a two-pronged attack. Initially, twenty-two holes are earmarked for the company’s Kirgella Gift -Providence system aimed at tightening drill spacing and extending mineralisation north and west of the current JORC-compliant inferred mineral resource.
The system’s current resource stands at 2.34 million tonnes, grading one gram per tonne (g/t) gold, for a total of 76,400 ounces. Mineralisation remains open in multiple directions. KalGold believes the drill bit could reveal key new structures that could lead to further gold along strike and at depth.
The remaining 19 RC holes will target the emerging Lighthorse discovery, testing for northern extensions coinciding with promising geophysical conductivity features identified by sub-audio magnetic surveys.
KalGold is accelerating exploration at Pinjin because we see outstanding potential for project advancement and significant discovery.

Following completion of the 41-hole RC drilling campaign, diamond drill rigs will be rolled in to probe high-grade primary gold mineralisation at depths between 80 and 200 metres, well beneath the current resource envelope at Kirgella Gift-Providence.
The company is also looking beyond known mineralisation with a massive greenfield reconnaissance program. Up to 215 air core holes covering 10,750 metres will target the “Laverton Tectonic Zone Flexure” - a major structural bend 3.5 kilometres southeast of Kirgella Gift. Notably, this area has never been systematically explored despite geophysics hinting at underlying gold mineralisation beneath transported cover.
KalGold’s tenure stretches across 22 kilometres of highly prospective gold-bearing strike, 140 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie-Boulder within the prolific Laverton Tectonic Zone in WA’s Eastern Goldfields.
Adding to its allure, the zone features heavyweights such as Anglo Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam, as well as Goldfields’ Granny Smith and Wallaby mines. Notably, KalGold’s ground sits neatly between Hawthorn Resources’ high-grade Anglo Saxon deposit, featuring 157,000 ounces at 6.1g/t gold, and Ramelius Resources’ one-million-ounce Rebecca project, which is due for first pour next year.
While industry-wide demand for drill rigs caused earlier scheduling challenges, the company is now full speed ahead at Pinjin. In parallel with the drilling, KalGold is finalising a new heritage protection agreement covering its southern Pinjin and Bulong Taurus projects.
The drill rods are finally turning at Pinjin, kicking off the company’s biggest drilling campaign yet to test its pipeline of high conviction targets. KalGold looks to have its foot to the drill rig floor, on a mission to unlock potential discoveries in a region famous for producing multi-million-ounce monsters.
No doubt all eyes will be on the assays from the opening 41-hole program when they land, as the company’s aggressive multi-rig exploration blitz gathers pace.
