Red Mountain Mining Head Geologist Mark Mitchell on 3AW & 2GB Bulls N' Bears Report

Listen to ASX-listed Red Mountain Mining’s Mark Mitchell talk to Matt Birney on the Bulls N’ Bears Report about Red Mountain’s big (and now dual) antimony play in an exquisite geological region in America. These grades are serious!

Matt Birney - Welcome to Bulls N' Bears, brought to you today by gold and antimony explorer Red Mountain Mining

Matt Birney - ASX code: RMX.

Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney, and I'm joined now by the Head Geologist of Red Mountain Mining, Mark Mitchell.

Matt Birney - Hi, Mark.

Mark Mitchell - G'day Matt.

Matt Birney - Okay, Mark. So, Red Mountain is rapidly building out a portfolio of antimony and gold projects spanning from New South Wales to Idaho in the USA where I note you've just picked up the Silver Dollar antimony project that comes gift wrapped with an old antimony mine. When was that mine last mined and at what grades?

Mark Mitchell - The mid 1940s at 17.7% antimony and the stockpiles run at about 14.6% antimony.

Matt Birney - How hard is it to get hold of mining records for something that was mined in the 40s?

Mark Mitchell - Well, we managed to get some of the original records which showed that the deposit is paper thin at surface but swells to over a meter at 7m depth. And they're pulling out blocks of 20 kilos of pure stibnite.

Matt Birney - Now, I understand this project is close to what is probably the biggest antimony discovery in the USA owned by Perpetua Resources.

Matt Birney - Firstly, how big is that deposit? How close is it to your new Silver Dollar project? And is it only about nearology at this stage or are you seeing some geological similarities with Perpetua?

Mark Mitchell - Yes, it's only about 70 kilometres from Perpetua and they've got 4.8 million ounce gold and 67,000 tonnes of antimony and the geology is very similar both in the Idaho Batholith.

Matt Birney - Now on September the 25th, Red Mountain's share price pretty much doubled when you announced the acquisition of a different antimony project, I believe in the same area in Idaho, the Yellow Pine project.

Matt Birney - What were the couple of key features of that project that got the market excited?

Mark Mitchell - Well, we're only two kilometres from Perpetua Resources there. So, we got favourable host rocks and we've got three old workings that were probably related to gold and antimony mining.

Matt Birney - And back in Australia, you recently tabled some stellar looking rock chips from Red Mountains Armidale project in New South Wales. What were the best rock chip numbers from that last announcement?

Mark Mitchell - Oh, they range from 39.3% to 19.4% antimony.

Matt Birney - Mark Mitchell from Red Mountain Mining.

Matt Birney - Thanks for joining me on Bulls N' Bears and remember we're only here to give you information, not advice, which you should of course seek independently.

Matt Birney - I'm Matt Birney and this is Bulls N' Bears.
